There's no doubt that Midmar's recumbent (as with so many others) is very carefully chocked to it's present level so the builders were aiming for something very specific.

Hmm, if you were standing by the Northern outlier stone, would you be able to see over the hill to the major standstill then I wonder? (with trees removed of course).

Did you see the 200 year old graffiti on the top of the recumbent while you were there?


hello Chris , quite a common feature is the chocked recumbent , kept the body flat for druidical sacrifice no doubt , blood then filled the cup marks .
I have passed often enough lately but never visited for a while and can't remember the graffiti . Not sure about the outlier even treeless .
