Your right. Perhaps it was a prototype for stonehenge.

The stones on Gray Hill, Wibstone, Trellech and a stone a Llanvair Discoed are pudding stone.

The point where this stone made a good landing point in times past (for heavy loads). Shallow gravel banks to move loads off barges etc. Minimal cranage.

Just a thought.
