I don't know about sub-threshold - I can't judge that. With the photo, if you contrast stretch it, the stone to the right of it develops a similar, but fainter, pattern. The painful thing is that there's a well carved stone in this line of boulders, but the carved shapes aren't recognised. Somewhere around about people were carving moulds for copper - that's the Rock Art I want to find - the pile of wasters !
