Yeah, you're right - not true east though, more south-east (could have sworn the road to Marlborough ran south :-( The other thing is that there is/was so much stuff in the area that Britton might be referring to something else (how come he and Higgins published in the same year by the way?).

What's really interesting is that if the Great Bank does turn out to be a little Silbury it's more than likely that it's going to be older than the big lady herself - that's really pushing things back into pre-history
