I've just brought the front half of a small axe back, last week. It had snapped in half but the sharpened end is still bright. It's a piece of fossil tree fern originally - so it's a fossil and a tool, and broken. I was looking at the river that disappears in summer yesterday. It goes underground and then shoots out from the stones a few hundred metres downstream. Just looks like a normal river in the winter.
Goldsworthy's walls are crap. When I get a chance I go and give them the drystone wallers trial - they always fail. I offered to teach him walling once - no reply. His bended and arranged leaves are pretty good - I'd like to burn one of them on the palm of my hand - but are, again, copied from oriental originists.
