Graves did later say he'd got some of it wrong. I don't think he ever specified which bits though :-)
It's still a cracking read if you can follow it.
You only have to stand on top of somewhere like the Rock of Doon, site of 25 historical inaugurations of the O'Donnells, to believe that becomming a king was an ... erm ... interesting event. If there was ever a place I picked up an evil and forboding vibe from that was it. You also feel that becomming 'not a king' was just as interesting.
