.. but where if anywhere did the ridgeway go southwards after Alton Barnes, as that's the last I see of it mentioned on the OS map? I read recently about it crossing the river somewhere near Marden henge.
I suppose it's easy to pick out on the high ground, hence the 'ridge' way - so is any track to the south not really Ridgeway but just some track?
And anyway, what's it all about? Is Avebury henge where it is because of the Ridgeway, or is it the other way round??
