Recently there has been a noticeable increase in interest in St Kilda, no doubt heightened by Prof Andrew Fleming doing the rounds talking about his new book about the Island.

Without doubt, Andrew Fleming is the world expert on St Kilda and it will be interesting to see what new revelations he reveals in the future. Who knows, maybe even stone circles!

BBC Scotland aired a news item this week about the last remaining islander by birth, returning by helicopter to visit the scenes of his childhood. He was five when he left the island. Seemingly it was the death of his mother in childbirth that prompted the rest of the tiny community, of about thirty souls, to seek permanent relocation to the mainland.
