Got to be brief - lack of time, sorry. I know the place you mean, but it never crossed my mind. I assumed all was known around there - should've known better.
It does line up (roughly) with Copy Howe, and Pike of Stickle. We have to remember that Pike of Stickle wasn't the only Great Langdale axe factory. The whole of the Langdale Pikes (in local areas), seen from Elterwater, were quarried for axes.
I feel quite a few upright stones in Cumbria are ignored as, or are mistaken as, standing stones. What your photo shows looks like a genuine standing stone from most angles, but two of the photos don't look right.
I must revisit it.
