To be serious for a moment - just read The Avebury Landscape: aspects of the field archaeology of the Marlborough Downs edited by Graham Brown, Dave Field, David McOmish, Oxbow Books 2005 isbn 1 842171526.
This is basically papers from a Uni of Bath in Swindon day conference in April 2002 plus some other odds and ends.
All of the 200pages were worth reading, and in addition to v.worthwhile material from Dave Field there are some very good papers from such as Julie Scott Jackson, Mark Bowden (great paper as we might expect) Josh Pollard (on monuments and memory), and although not perhaps of interest to most here a very interesting paper on monastic settlement and land use by Graham Brown.
Anyway the book is great but so is the price - £30 for a paperback !
