| Hi greywether. Many thanks for your reply, the one your mentioning at Loch Creran is a depiction of a typical 16th- 17th century West highland galley, and a good depiction as well!, as far as i'm aware the only other graffito of a W H galley is on recently excavated on a stone from the excavations at Inchmarnock, an island off Bute, which I should be going to see fairly soon. on you travels have you ever been to Clachtoll near Loch inver? theres supposed to be a series of boulders in a hollow in the hills above the deserted village of Clachtoll with a large collection of ship graffiti on them, and another boulder(s) nearby with some on as well, aledgedly carved by the emigrants before they set sail for America, I've never managed up to see them (yet) but if your in the area any time?, the grid ref I was given is NC 0540 2715, they are supposed to be in quite an evocative setting.
