Nash said that Keiller had ruined the wilderness aspect that he portrayed, and I guess you can see what he means by comparing his Avebury works (the others are better in my opinion, as is the one he did at that time of Savernake) with his WWI paintings like "Making a new world" and photographs of the ditch and bank covered in trees with the odd megalith poking out behind a trunk. It all looked very different then, and not a tourist in sight ...and no NT !
