Naw! They're busy closing rural banks.

The fact that the map shows 'The Great Bank', which presumably isn't this mound, but which was possibly connected with it, does hint at the mound being a motte <i>at some point in its history</i> - if the bank was associated with the mound, of course.

This doesn't mean that it wasn't anything before that, though. A number of mottes made use of earlier mounds to give them a head start in the 'getting up before the local peasants attack you' stakes.
