Given that the Romans liked to keep things straight wherever possible after reading Baza's post about a cutting on the north side of the road it makes sense that they might have dug quite a chunk out of the end of Waden Hill in the interest of straightness. Is there any evidence that the road was straighter at one time to the north of Silbaby and the present curve in the road might be a result of general slumping of the cut face over time. Could Silbaby be the result of Roman road building?
