What I find strangest of all is that it has been preserved/re-erected/moved/made into a folly by this deeply deeply religeous family. They have an unbroken line here for 850 years and remained staunchly Catholic all that time. The stone by the Chapel is the same as most of the rest (Sarsen) and none are Oolitic Limestone (Oolitic..little eggs!). From what I could gather from the guides, they often find the Sarsens in the valley. It sounds a bit like the Marlborough Downs writ small.
