I feel a bit guilty for bragging about non-drippy paint that time - Pollock was maybe a delayed Pointillist and would sell by the yard - allegedly. I've never seen one of his canvases 'live'.
I remember the year of the drought through my younger daughter's birth, though - scorching hot is her favourite weather - and it was 1976. It's another world altogether now (and this after listening to someone on the radio reminisce about sharing a flat with Syd Barrett).
