It does depend a lot on how long you're there for, where you're going from, which route you're using and where you've been before.

I went to Lewis recently from Leeds and broke the journey with a full day (and a couple of nights) around Loch Tay. There's loads to see that are fairly quick & easy to find.

Books are a bit trickier without knowing more.

I didn't look at guidebooks for Lewis itself. Is it just the stones you want one for? If so, do you have any already? And how much detail do you want? Have you got TMA?
