I have always understod that the Manx symbol is a sun symbol. So is the swastika and the equal armed cross within a circle. Very ancient and nothing to do with Celts who never lived in Man anyway. Lots of similar designs in Scandinavian rock art of the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. Wheeled devices also common on La Tene and Hallstatt metalwork.
