It is a grim, sad irony that Jeremy Corbyn should be leader of the Labour Party right now.

If it wasn't for brexit, he has the potential to be a very good thing for the UK. I'm actually not a big fan of the man personally, but British politics has shifted rightwards en masse to a terrifying degree during my lifetime. If you guys don't elect someone like Corbyn very soon, you won't have an NHS in a decade. That's just a fact from where I'm sitting. The NHS desperately needs five or ten years of heavy investment just to survive. And only someone "like" Corbyn will do that.

Trouble is... Brexit is such a hugely important thing right now. This two year "Article 50" period will potentially be remembered as being a pivotal time in British politics for the next hundred years. And Corbyn's clear ambivalence on Europe makes him the worst person to have been leader of the opposition during it.

It's such a terrible shame. It's a stretch to lay any of the actual blame for brexit at his feet (as some are wont to do), but in my view Corbyn has unambiguously made a terrible situation even more terrible -- when he had it in his power to do otherwise.

Agreed, and what about the Beeb's role in the tragedy?:

Have now heard it called the “so-called People’s Vote” from four different journos on @BBCNews. This points to an editorial decision to comment on the #PeoplesVote. Pretty extraordinary considering the only other such editorial interference is the “so-called Islamic State”. WTF

Someone like Corbyn maybe, but definitely not him, as a former NHS worker, living in Wales, we're a country that he's not even aware exists, one of the multitude of reasons I support the break up of the uk and don't support labour.

He could have been great, sadly he seems intent on squandering his position by ignoring the majority of labour members who support the people's vote, even though saying he wants more membership participation. I think he once had some nice ideas but is clearly intent on his own personal agenda.

Interestingly there were rumours of a possible leadership challenge coming from John McDonnell of all people!

Here in Wales things are very different, especially now with more devolved powers, it truly makes people like Corbyn utterly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things as he has no position here.

Welsh Labour however (essentially red tories) could do a lot more. While the country's infrastructure is crumbling they're joining the tories in ensuring needless vanity projects are implemented which help no one.

I don't want corny as PM, then again I don't want anyone else either. I'm not a party person anymore and I find many independent candidates have better understanding and knowledge. Sadly there's not enough of them
