Sounds like the US should bloody employ him, not want him to 'fry' or put him away for 50 years. Fuckers. He was looking for stuff on UFOs because he believes the US are keeping anti-gravity technology secret. Leave the poor bastard alone and get some better computer people I say.

Totally agreed. 70 fkn years for arsing around on a pc! What would he get for kiddie fiddling? Five years max? Talk about skewed priorities!

When I see stuff like this, it makes me think of the true story behind 'Catch Me If You Can' (a very good Spielberg film).

The government, instead of putting the kid away and letting him rot, allowed him to use his knowledge to help catch other fraudsters.

You never know.... Unless the prosecuters are hellbent on treating him like any garden-variety 'threat' to military security they will likely offer him lieniency for his cooperation. These days, war is as much about electronics as it is about bullets.

I doubt very much that capital punishment is the goal here.
