When I see stuff like this, it makes me think of the true story behind 'Catch Me If You Can' (a very good Spielberg film).

The government, instead of putting the kid away and letting him rot, allowed him to use his knowledge to help catch other fraudsters.

You never know.... Unless the prosecuters are hellbent on treating him like any garden-variety 'threat' to military security they will likely offer him lieniency for his cooperation. These days, war is as much about electronics as it is about bullets.

I doubt very much that capital punishment is the goal here.
