There was an element of irony in my post, in that I don't believe you can avoid the often subliminal nature of marketing/advertising. I think that was what you were saying, but, I dont believe "education" or intellect is a factor...if you are in the target demographic for the particular campaign...you may be being caught "unaware"..and not necessarily by the obvious stuff...TV, Film, Billboards, Magazine articles etc etc.. but other Freudian ways into your subconcious mind.

I'm a qualified psychoanalyst, geoffrey, I'm not unaware of that.

Of course I can't completely avoid advertising, but I do my very best to minimise my exposure. I watch almost no TV, live in a relatively rural location and visit the billboard-laden city infrequently... that kind of thing. I do my best to guard against it and try to remain as aware of its effects as possible.

But no, I'm not immune, nor can I insulate myself completely from absorbing it. I just do what I can.
