I'm confused as to how this can happen anwyay.
Fron what I read there computers and cannabis and money were seized but no arrests were made because obviously medical use is legal in the particular state anyway. Which means there will be proper regulation etc surrounding the practice, and properly appointed medical bods will be involved (I assume). Which amounts to an arbitrary smash and grab type thing.
Fuck sake. Sounds like the sort of thing Mugabe gets up to.

There has always been a tug of war going on between states rights and federal law. In almost all cases, federal law trumps state law (this is how Jim Crow laws were overturned in the sixties, why abortion is legal in all fifty states- without a federal mandate this wouldn't be true).

This allowance that Obama is granting the states that have made medical pot available is therefore rather odd in the history of Washington DC laws vs. the individual state laws.
