All those 'mankind is blameless' types need to remember that, even IF all our emissions had nothing whatsoever to do with global warming, there's acid rain, respiratory diseases, and a thousand other reasons why we should go to a post fossil fuel economy.

There really is no good defense of their position, which really can be summed up as a complacency with flawed, but well understood technology.

Materials research has lots of surprises left for us. A zero emissions economy is not a farfetched dream.. it's an engineering challenge.
