Later and later, much busyness...

The Budos Band – V. Ah, been waiting for this for a while. And hooray, it’s pretty much the same as Burnt Offering, their last album, which is good, cos that was fab. Low-slung, horn-driven garage rock which being all instrumental, I am obliged to tell you sounds ‘cinematic’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHWQ88ODtLQ

Daniel O’Sullivan – Folly. Bloke from Grumbling Fur and just about every avant-rock combo you care to think of from the last ten years. Here in singer-songwriter mode. Nice if perhaps a bit long, cracking Bill Fay-esque single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1qau8VKN2w

The Brainiac 5 – Back To Shore. Old space/psych rock combo reformed I think? Some offending Robin Hitchcock-esque vocals, but when it sounds like Hawkwind Vs Gong, it ain’t half bad: https://brainiac5.bandcamp.com/album/back-to-shore

Jack Hues Quartet & Syd Arthur – Nobody’s Fault But My Own

Dub Sex – Search For The Right Words

Van Der Graaf Generator – The Aerosol Grey Machine. Soon to be reissued in 50th anniversary splendour. To say that Hammill and cohorts were only just out of their teens when they did this, it’s remarkably fully-formed in places (though a bit daft in others): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N91EyGMzvgc

Good to see someone else spinning this. Lots of plays here. Vastly overlooked. "Afterwards" being one of their all time best in my book. I feel if they never did anything else this would be a cult classic. Of course what they went on to do (particularly the first wave) as VDGG and playing on Hammill's solo albums are all timeless classics. Intrigued as to what the 50th anniversary has in store!
