I shot a lot of footage of the stuff we saw in Brittany last October but haven't done anything with them... until now. I've posted two new short films up onto my You Tube page.

Here's one of some giant menhirs (and a couple of lovely dolmens) in Brittany: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzF_WX6zJgs

And here's Ty ar Chorriket, an arc boutee style allee couverte burial chamber in Brittany. This one blew my tiny brain!

As we don't have a means of embedding video into TMA yet (an idea for Holy McGrail perhaps?) I shall try embedding these in a blog in a bit.

PS for anyone on here who likes horses (but not the general toffery that unfortunately goes with it) here's me riding a very nice hoss on a wonderful beach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXlJXGF-Oak

Just watched and enjoyed thoroughly - your films brought the photos to life and illustrated the immense size and scale of the menhirs. I can't access the horse link but a bit of synchronicity that you posted it as have just been reading about the Scouring of the White Horse at Uffington.

Yay! Cracking stuff! Cheers Jane (and Moth!)

Hoping to get back over there maybe this year. Will be printing off reams of your fieldnotes, I think... :)

Will have a proper look at these later. I have no sound on my PC at work. Oh, and I have work to do. ;)

Hope you two are well! Must speak soon.

I've been thrown from a horse - a big white Clydesdale called Bridget - long time ago - no saddle, just clinging to her mane (not for long but) ...

That magnificent stone at Kerloas has been carved on one of the faces, with a vulval image, shall I say. It's not erosion.

Jupiter into Pisces today, so a lifting of the spirits (he being co-ruler of the sign). Both the Egyptologist and the Chief Executive of Bolton Museum have left their posts, so good news for some. Brittany looks very beautiful - the maize in my garden ripened fully but blew over before it burnt brown...

Excellent stuff Jane, thanks for going to the effort of editing and uploading etc. I'd love to see more of this kind of thing. I should get off my backside and go do some myself.

Hmmm.

On a tangent slightly, horseback would definitely be the way to go looking for those elusive cup and ring marks. Some good ones up here were originally located that way by shepherds. Puts you high enough up to pick out the markings in low sunlight. In fact, if I unexpectedly become independently wealthy, how do you fancy a full time job being paid to ride over Northumberland heather at sunrise and sunset looking at each and every visible bit of stone?

;-)

Thank you Holes for your prompt response! I shall make some more films this rainy weekend :-)
