Given that the quality of that gazetteer is equal to that of the main book and it is illustrated with so many excellent colour photos, we can't help wondering if it was originally intended to be included in "Crowns".

It likely took as much time to produce the gazetteer as Crowns itself, and they have produced it as a ready for press document. An awful lot of trouble to go to for a mere "online addon".

Perhaps the print costs for a 600 page book were prohibitive.

Very tempted to run off a B&W copy for our library and get it bound....

Apparently it was going to be 'the book' before the emphasis changed to study of the RSC 'type' rather than just a gazetteer (just!).

It's a stunning book and I'm tempted to see if I can get the gazetteer printed & bound professionally as long as they don't think I'm trying to break copyright. Can't digest all that in front of a PC screen. Many hours of winter reading coming up.

I got a mention in the acknowledgements :-D
