I was in Kiltiernan a few days ago in the Dublin mountains and noticed that across from the junction at Palmers pub in the village there is a housing estate called 'Cromlech Close' or something very similar which made me curious to have a look around, its seems far enough away from Kiltiernan Dolmen not to be a reference to that particular tomb. I did a bit of a walkabout in the grounds of a sports club opposite and there definitley are plenty of curious arrangements of boulders but nothing I could make out as a 'cromlech'. The place is very overgrown in parts with traces of stones just visible behind the brambles. To me it suggests there is/was something of interest around here but havent seen any reference to it anywhere. Any ideas?

Hi Ken

I've been looking into this for a while now as I too thought that the estate/road name was a little far from the tomb to be relevent, but from what I've gathered it does refer to Kiltiernan tomb. No other has ever been noted in the immediate vicinity and sometimes people do get carried away with naming places.

There is a 'Dolmen House' 2 miles from Legannany. The Dolmen Hotel in Carlow is 6 miles from the Browne's Hill tomb. etc ...
