Front Door

The door stone is now quite brutally bolted to the enlarged enterance, I had a good look at it when I was there on the solstice as there were no guided tours and you could have a good look around, its not carved in any way on the front and sides as far as I could see. One thing is for sure, this stone ain't movin' for the foreseeable future. I'm fairly certain its not carved on the side thats hidden, I was there with a guy who had been in the 50's when it was used mostly for grazing cattle and I heard him remark that even then the doorstone looked so plain compared to the enterance stone.

This is the best photo I have of it, cropped from a much larger photo of the enterance...

Thank-you CML, those images are a lot clearer than the ones I took at the time!
<green with envy> Wow, you were one of the lucky ones to be there at Solstice? </green with envy>

Aha, so it's *bolted* to the wall, in my millisecond of allowed time to squint at it as I was rushed past, I'd thought it was hinged at the time it was restored.
Your photographs are stunning, I had a look at your website the other day and I particularly liked this one, it's not an angle I've seen used in a photograph before.
