Ahh, did you see that on TV as well last night - great prog! A herding tradition that goes back some 8,000 years. Amazing petroglyphs; I don't think they said how old they were but Monica Sjöö reckoned they were 4000-3500bce*

Yes saw it LS great stuff ,the Saami have become a sort of Northern aboriginal source for ethnographers and anthros and you can't help extrapolating their findings to our local , earlier , hunter gatherers .It was followed by an equally rivetting Dan Cruikshank on the architecture of death .Thats six weeks worth in 2 hours .

I went to one of her slide show talks about 18 years ago.
Managed to have a chat with her afterwards. Very interesting woman indeed.
