Cheers guys, goes to show even on a damp and gloomy solstice theres always something to wonder at at Newgrange, even if you've seen it dozens of times already.

I've always wanted to get some good photos of the rock art here, it seems to be fading quickly compared to older photos but with a bit of hefty sidelighting you can see the craftwork here is really staggering and will hopefully stay like that for a long time to come.

The sidelighting is crucial, the setting or rising sun at the right angle is probably better and the way it was meant to be seen but technology comes a close second. The key here was to almost eliminate the ambient daylight by underexposing massively and compensating on the remote flash to make it the main light source.

I have to say, you are a master of flash photography. I loathe it - probably 'cos I'm crap at it; you're pics are superb.
