Cor blimey and then some!

*That*, as they say, is the way to do it. Sidelighting is the way to go with RA.

Is kerbstone 52 ( http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/42644 ) the one that gets photographed for books? That image is smarter than any I've seen in a book.

Effin hexerlant!

Its a map of course
In the top right you've got the piggeries, top left are the sheep pens and then bottom left is battery farm.

I'd expand that a little bit: Sidelighting and a high capacity digital camera is the way to go :-)

Cheers guys, goes to show even on a damp and gloomy solstice theres always something to wonder at at Newgrange, even if you've seen it dozens of times already.

I've always wanted to get some good photos of the rock art here, it seems to be fading quickly compared to older photos but with a bit of hefty sidelighting you can see the craftwork here is really staggering and will hopefully stay like that for a long time to come.

The sidelighting is crucial, the setting or rising sun at the right angle is probably better and the way it was meant to be seen but technology comes a close second. The key here was to almost eliminate the ambient daylight by underexposing massively and compensating on the remote flash to make it the main light source.
