I was thinking about this one.

If Mr Crerar realised that these were ancient, and he was kicking about in the early 1800s, it might put this panel before Old Bewick as the first one to be recognised as prehistoric.

hello Hob , If he is the bloke I think he is then he is quite early , he was married in 1835 so I would guess born circa 1810 . But Edward Lhwyd was drawing the motifs from Newgrange in 1699 and he is the earliest so far . Of course the lack of a date with Sandy's name rules him out altogether I suppose.
