On the 1850 maps, the Cat Stones are down as a ‘sandstone quarry’ with a grid ref of roughly SD999172. As far as finds go this is from ADS:
“Numerous flint implements of Mesolithic to Bronze Age date have been found in the Dog Hill area. They include microliths, an axe, a leaf-shaped arrowhead, a barbed and tanged arrowhead, and a knife. Various items are in Huddersfield and Halifax Museums. “
David Shepherd has also identified a number of what he believes to be standing stones in the area.
