Some years ago I saw a mention of these stones on an old nineteenth century map of the area and went to try and find them, without much success I admit. I forgot about them from that day until this, when I came across a page about the stones on Wikipedia. However, the information therein is scant and subsequent browsing of the net has found no other trace of them. Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

On the 1850 maps, the Cat Stones are down as a ‘sandstone quarry’ with a grid ref of roughly SD999172. As far as finds go this is from ADS:
“Numerous flint implements of Mesolithic to Bronze Age date have been found in the Dog Hill area. They include microliths, an axe, a leaf-shaped arrowhead, a barbed and tanged arrowhead, and a knife. Various items are in Huddersfield and Halifax Museums. “

David Shepherd has also identified a number of what he believes to be standing stones in the area.
