Probably nowt to do with owt but I once discovered an unrecorded single entrance henge in Mallerstang. It was on the valley floor close to the River Ure. The Ground was pretty waterlogged, the platform was extremely circular, the ditch was waterlogged and had a slight raised bank on the outside. The henge measured about 25 feet across.
As you can imagine I got quite excited about the whole thing, lots of running around, sketching and pacing. It wasn't until I stood back and had a good look at the landscape that I realised that what I'd actually discovered was an ox bow. The sheep got to hear a few words that you don't hear in church..

And the terrier thought " I knew it , but he wouldn't listen "

I mentioned a while back I was going to be in the area towards the
end of August. I was there on the 23/24 and could not see anything.
One was because of access the other was the awful weather, a lot of
the area was under water, considering all the rain that is no surprise.

I found that getting the location on Archeology.ie and then looking it
up on google earth you will get a good aerial view of the area, which
throws up a lot of ring forts and large enclosures.

Field walk only possible on a good day, and thats with the land dried out.
Sorry I could be of more help.
