Hi folks,

I'm heading to North Clare for Saturday & Sunday, staying in Ballyvaughan. Looking at Sheet 51, it seems the area of the Burren is a stone/tomb-hunters paradise! However, as my companion may not have as much rock-patience/fence-climbing-ability/megalithic-interest as me, I was wondering if the good folk on here could point me towards the more accessible sites in the region. I'm restricting it to Sheet 51 so…

Thanks in advance

Andy

Ballyganner South is right by the roadside : http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/920

Baur South is just over two low walls and 60m from the road http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/926

Cahercommaun is a lovely 1km walk http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/789

Creevah wedge tomb is next to the road http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/785

Paknabinnia is next to the road http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/780

Poulnabrone and Gleninshineen http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/770

Caherconnel has parking but you have to pay http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/796

Poulawhack cairn is a short walk up from the road, but tricky to park http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/794

these are all the sites I've been to on sheet 51 http://www.megalithomania.com/show/sheet/51

I did this just the summer gone with my wife who isn't remotely interested in the sites, the list Fourwinds gave is the same as the list I drew up with the exception of Baur South, last time I was there parking was very awkward anywhere near and I had to climb two walls that were falling to pieces. The tomb was completely hidden from view from the road and it was just by luck that I got there without the gps. That was in February as well so I'd sneak off to that one on my own.

The beach at Fanore is wonderful as well, the coast drive is gorgeous at sunset.

Amazin' stuff FW. All duly printed off and soon to be sorted. Thanks a million!
