some 17 years ago I moved to rural (midlands) Ireland. At that time it was generally believed that Co.Longford was devoid of any archaeology of note.
Days and weeks of field walking and looking brought dozens of previously overlooked neolithic sites to light.
I wrote a small book for the protection of these stones/sites some of which might interest you.
I am very interested indeed as my late mother came from Co Longford. She talked about Aughnacliff a lot and often, mentioned 'the field of old stones'. I plan to spend a lot more time crossing the water (had an amazing time in West Cork last year) and the
Aughnacliff dolmen is high on my list visit.
Would you be kind enough to post the details of your book and how I can get hold of it.
