I'll probably regret asking this but...

We're tentatively planning a trip to Ireland at the end of June. I've never been there, and have been given the task of choosing location, sites etc.

bearing in mind we'll be driving most of the time - my partner can't walk more than a couple of hundred metres but doesn't mind waiting in the car whilst I scoot around looking at stones for an hour, where would be the best place to base ourselves for a week or two, and what are the 'must see' sites? What maps are available over there? Does the OS go that far?

I'm off work for a few days now following an operation, so that should give you all time to delierate and come up with a consensus view :-)))))

Are you more into circles or tombs?

Hi Ocifant
I had the good fortune to go to Dublin for the weekend in February and I can truthfully say (hand-on-heart) that a 'must-see' in Ireland is definitely the engaging, intelligent, witty, compassionate Mr Four Winds himself!

I have read this thread with interest because Four Winds also recommended Cork very highly to me, too. (Can't resist a circle or a dolmen, me) I haven't actually started plotting a Corkage trip, but it is high in my mind. (I have too many other trips planned; Pembrokeshire in May, hunebedden in Holland in June).

I shall be **fascinated** to read your weblog when you return. When you thinking of going?

love
Jane
