Monumentally ironic I'd say, preservation by record being a euphemism for destruction.

A sad story altogether, with the current government praying for more of the medicine that made us sick in the first place, ever reliant on the safety valve of emigration, trumpeting the fall in unemployment figures the other day when even the dogs in the street know the real story.
