Saw Drew's excavation pics a few weeks back, this is a real find. Is this the first time it's been excavated?
It looks like the locals smashed the remaining stones with sledgehammers , lots of sharp edged bits of granite just under the top soil .same thing had happened at Broomend of Crichie just up the road ,here it was possible to actually refit bits of a couple stones ,the Tuach stones were given a more thorough doing .
