Don't forget the Timewatch program about the two Irish bog men is on at 9 o'clock tonight, BBC2.

They go on display in the National Museum in Dublin some time in May.

thanks for the reminder.
looking forward to that one.
one of the good things school did for me was learning about the (danish) bog people through seamus heaney's poems.

Cheers dood.

Well I enjoyed that [random scene of violence] programme, and found it very informative [Scooby Doo soundtrack] despite the efforts of the Time [random scene of violence] Watch team. Whoever directed it [it's a fact... we're scientists] should be ritually murdered and [not so random scene of violence] dumped in a [we're simply finishing Nature's work] bloody bog!

Saturday BBC2 18.10

Not knowing the geography of where these remains were found, could I ask those that do,
Is there any nearby ancient sites, especially on higher ground?
Also, could I throw into the bog equasion, a serpent.
These serpents were thought to shed and renew their skin annualy, I shall call this serpent Ptha , just so it has a name.
On the prog. they didnt seem to understand that the big fella had no head or lower body ?
In many parts of the world, serpents are believed to live , and to come out of watery places, they then go to higher places and circle, biting their tail, eternity.
Offering will be made to the serpent, offerings of blood, the skull and main leg bones ( skull and cross bones)
Wil be placed at the point where the serpent will encircle.
Find a long barrow , find the skull ?
Sounds far fetched eh?
Not if you believed and feared the serpent, or dragon, or what the hell you now may call the same thing.

Apologies if this has already been flagged up elsewhere but I just spotted this BBC article on the Irish bog bodies:
