the romans didn't full-on invade Ireland but they did reach here. there was a roman fort found in Drumanagh (also called Loughshinny), in Malahide, fifteen miles north of Dublin City. some of the artifacts unearthed at the Drumanagh site include "large Copper ingots, ornate jewelry and valuable ornaments", all of which are being held at the National Museum of Ireland. Also, apparently, are also some Roman coins stamped with the names of the Emperors Titus, Trajan and Hadrian 'suggesting Roman involvement in Ireland extended at least from AD 79 to AD 138'.

Thanks for that information and I fully accept it. The Romans had a very strong presence at Ravenglass on the coast of Cumbria. It would have been very strange if they had not explored and traded with Man and Ireland.
