the burren is pretty near and well, well worth a visit, but go with someone who knows the area or you'll be wandering around for hours without seeing any of the good stuff.

Ennis is only about 10 miles from the Burren, and apart from being the most stunning scenery in Ireland the Burren also has dozens of excellent wedge tombs, the infamous Poulnabrone portal tomb, stone forts and other nick-nacks that are interesting.

I usually stay in Ennis when visiting this area, there are a few good pubs and even more rough ones but in general its not bad. Bunratty Castle is nearby as well if you fancy the Oirish(TM) experience of misery and straw beds in the 'roots' theme park. The castle has a sheela ni gig though. Stay clear of the banquet nights unless you have a stomach of titanium, and I dont mean the food.

I'm working in Limerick next monday so will be down in the Burren on Saturday/Sunday and Kerry/Cork Monday if your over for this weekend you can tag along*(terms and cinditions apply)
