I'm hoping to do a grand counter-clockwise preambulation of Cumbrian sites during the summer.
As for the Solway coast. I was thinking about the back end of summer/early autumn. I have fond memories of a visit at that time of year, just after all the tourists had gone home. We saw some lovely stones, beautiful rock art and long shadows. Evenings of shivering on the beach, drinking sweet cups of spiked tea beside a bonfire with autumnal meterorites shooting over our heads.
