Well I cant say for sure for this circle but a hell of a lot of em were destroyed deliberately by relgious zealots in an attemtp to remove all traces of the old pagan traditions.
As we know fertility rites were often associated with circles and megaliths. And as we also know anything to do with sex is frowned on by the Christian church. So the obvious solution - get rid of the circle and you get rid of the pagan tradition.
