Haven't been there for about 5 years - when I have visited it's always been November, when it has been deserted (including no dogs or farmers), but very sad to hear all of this. It's particularly sad when the recent news about quarrying at Stanton Moor is so positive - the Peak District is an amazing area for prehistory and should be as well protected as other important areas (e.g. Wiltshire). Being in the midlands/north is no excuse for the heritage bodies to ignore these issues.
