"The accepted route is a direct line from Marlborough Downs to Stonehenge which would encounter Red Horn Hill. Bruce has spent many years on Salisbury plain and has spoken to local farmers and residents. Due to the fact that Bruce's route has virtually no inclines its not only the most logical way, they all agree it's the only way."

Red Horn Hill = virtually no inclines does not compute. I've been and looked, you can go straight at it at about 1 in 3 or you can go obliquely at it at 1 in 15 but either way the Plain is very high, Red Horn Hill is the way up to it and its a hell of a slog.

Hi Nigel,

I think this Bruce chappie has a view that the bluestones were floated across the Bristol Channel and rolled across what is now Somerset. It's a long detour to make from the Marlborough Downs just to avoid Red Horn Hill....especially with a bloody great sarsen.....
