After adding some pics and comments about the astounding excavations at Woodhenge and Durrington Walls... http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/455

...a couple more words are needed. My observations were based on, hopefully correctly heard, speeches by the superb guides. Errors are all mine!
Sheffield Uni will be giving a more comprehensive account of the excavation at Christmas. There will be another dig next year.
If you can, get to this site immediately as it closes very soon.
Jim.

P.S. Nice to see you there Bazza, sorry didn't have time to talk. Please add your own comments as I'm sure to have missed something. Stunning wasn't it!

Did you get up to the Cursus Jim?

Is this Phil knapping live? Fantastic. I know Phil Harding is not TMA's favourite knapper but look at those axes! Nice car too.

Good to see you again, too, Jim. Unfortunately my guided tour had just started so I couldn't stop.

You don't seem to have crossed the road to the excavations on the eastern side. There was a dig on the bank and I was struck by the clean, brilliant whiteness of the chalk rubble, something that's been discussed here.

The archaeos were enthused by the neolithic floors. I was told (by Mike Parker Pearson) that I'd probably not see another south of the Scottish isles. I think there were eight.

I'm very glad I went.
