>As for EH not wanting the festival to re-establish, that did seem to be their major fear, >and yet they made no attempt to explain why, which I thought rather incongrous.

Rule no1 is always 'No return of the Festival'. Much of it is still prompted by the press furore that surrounded the festival in the 80's. I'm not sure how strong local feelings are, but there's always a few vociferous local residents against it. Most of the people I met in Amesbury over the years had nothing against the festival... in fact, the locals I spoke to were more pissed of with the Police during the Exclusion Zone years. But then again, I'm hardly likely to rub shoulders with those who were against it!

Jeremy Wickham seems far more open minded than past Wiltshire Police reps have been. I think he's even gone as far as apologising for the Police operation at the Beanfield... something that Lionel Grundy (I think that was his name), the Chief Constable at the time will never do.

>Who do you know that was on the prog?

I know Brian (who's a really nice bloke) and have had brief dealings with a few of the others thru' the Stonehenge Campaign... I've done artwork for Dice George's newsletter... King Arthur let me hold his sword once too!!!!!

>If I wasn't already spoken for I'd be busy falling in love with the witchy woman who lit
>the candle thingie!

Haven't seen that bit yet, but I'd guess it'd probably be Cerri Dragonoak.

You should read the minutes from some of the Roundtable meetings... reads a bit like a name check from Lord of the Rings!

Splendid! Brian seemed a lovely bloke I must say.

"Cerri Dragonoak"

If that's a cyber name like we use here, then fair enough. If that's someone's name, I'm off to collect stones with goffik.

>Who do you know that was on the prog?

there was a certain R. Gibbon lurching around a campfire down the track, when Brian was doing his big camera bit after the Spring Equinox ...

That one was hilarious - all King Arthur's mob were getting a bit hysterical, because "there's a BBC crew here, and Arthur's asleep in the van!" - he was due this big interview, and got hugely pissed!

no suprise there, really. I know that Cerri got *really* upset because Brian got all the attention ...

they never come and talked to us - I love Brian and Cerri, but I wouldn't agree that they were that representative of us as the programme was making out

can't beat going to Stonehenge, especially at the "Lesser" festivals - highly entertaining

see you there next Saturday morning ...
